The Toddler Program was established in response to Dr. Maria Montessori's observations that the most important period in a human being's educational and emotional development is the first six years of life. Our commitment to these important years is clearly evident in this specialized program designed to serve the needs of the toddler by focusing on the processes of independent exploration, learning, and, most importantly, the joy of discovering the world. Teachers guide in this early developmental period by helping children focus on practical life skills, sensorial exploration, language development, investigation of the natural world through science, developing fine and gross motor skills, and the appreciation of art and music. The Toddler classroom includes directed group experiences such as songs, stories, snacks, outdoor play, and movement.

The Primary Program consists of classroom communities of children aged 3- to 6-years-old. It is designed to recognize each child's natural love of order, independent work, concentration, and self-discipline. These characteristics require a carefully prepared environment and highly trained teachers who guide the children through exploration and learning. Assistants in each classroom help to ensure guidance through learning activities. The Primary classroom provides experienced-based activities in practical life, language development, sensorial exploration, mathematics, science, geography, physical education, art, and music. Because this is an especially sensitive period for language acquisition, Alcuin School’s Spanish language program starts in the Primary classroom. Each classroom has an extended outdoor environment where the students can learn about and explore nature.
