We provide a warm and loving environment for your child to grow. We care for babies 6 weeks old to 1 year in this class. When an infant is walking (around 1 yr. of age) they can move up to our toddler class. Babies are held, fed when needed and diaper changed every 2 hours. Mothers that are breast feeding can come in during the day to feed their baby. Our infant program has two rooms. One room is for napping with individual cribs and bedding. The other is for play and interaction. Babies are encouraged to develop at their level and are given the appropriate toys to gain skills. Our staff has experience working with infants and love what they are doing. The babies also enjoy playing and looking at other babies. We have a wonderful fenced in area for the babies to play outside or go for a stroller ride on warm days. Throughout the duration of the day, the care givers fill out a daily report regarding your child’s day. This includes; how long or how many times they nap, what they eat, diaper changing times, along with any special activities that might have occurred during the day. Full or part time days are available.

Our summer program is a relaxed yet organized schedule. The children who have been here during the previous school year stay familiar with the daily routine. For the new students it is a time to become familiar with the school and meet new friends before the regular school year begins. Not all our summer attendees stay with us for the school year because those that don't usually return to their regular elementary school in the fall. Each week of the summer we have a new unit or theme that we explore through art, science, and discussion. We take plenty of time to enjoy the fresh summer air, and take advantage of the warm temperature. Water play through slip n' slide, sprinklers, and other organized water games are a must. On particularly hot days we take in the shade and play in the huge sand box away from the suns rays. Every year Mr. Beck organizes the garden and the garden duties, planting and tending to the garden allows us to get a direct return on the fruits of our labor. Pumpkins in the fall make every Halloween special, especially if you grew it! Since the summer allows family vacations we always have a variation in numbers from day to day. Because of this you only pay for the days your child is here. We preschedule it accordingly to your personal calendars at home. Often times we have returning students for the summer who bring their older siblings to join in. We try to incorporate something of interest for every age.

This room is meant to help the infant transition into preschool. Greetings, circle time, art projects, songs, story time, free movement to music and free play are all geared for the toddler. Here they begin to recognize and verbalize their needs. As well as memorize songs, begin counting, and problem solve with oversized puzzles just right for their little hands. Daily repetition and consistency of activities helps reinforce their learning process and feeling of security. Out door exploration twice a day includes treks out to visit the fish pond and garden, or just to have an exciting hayride, sleigh ride, or a fun day with water play; depending on the weather. Daily individualized notes outline child’s activity during the day, this includes how well they ate, napped, and any special activity or interaction amongst others.

Yellow Class: ages 2 1/2 years Blue Class: age 3 years Green Class: age 4 years Our Preschool is a developmental based program. Each classroom has weekly themes / units that is the basis of topic and exploration. Each day starts out with drop off times from 7:30- 9:00 a.m., where free play is a large part of learning. By 9:00 a.m. Most if not all of the students have arrived and have settled into the school; now the day can begin with circle time or group time. The daily repetition of this time encourages confidence building by learning to show and share with others, to verbalize ideas and develop critical thinking and social skills. Circle time includes identifying the weather, month, day, reading books, and identifying friends that are in class. The units or themes help guide the songs they will be learning and the art projects they will create. Each day small and large motor and cognitive skills are exercised through various art, science projects and organized / free play. Everyday the class transition into another room, this not only gives them variation in surroundings but prepares them in knowing how to transition for when they go to elementary school. Each day the teachers send home daily newsletters which can include individualized notes pertaining to your child’s day. Once a year, after winter break each child has a very in-depth progress report. This is not a test. It is simply a tool for which the parents can review their children’s progress since the beginning of the year. This report measures the cognitive, emotional, social, large and small motor skills accordingly to the child’s age group. Children at Little Folk's Corner are not required to be toilet trained before moving up to the next class. We encourage them at different times of the day to visit the restroom, but also will continue to change them as needed. Little Folk's Corner teachers and children love to have fun! Between the special events, hayrides, sleigh rides, sledding, water play, seasonal parties and 4 acres to explore and play any child can not resist the playground. Out door activity is encouraged twice daily. Nap time is from 1-3p.m., depending on the age of the child and their normal routine at home. Not all children are expected to nap. After nap is story time, snack, and outdoor play until parents arrive for pick up at 5:30.

Kindergarten is offered to those who are ready for the academic Kindergarten level. We follow the same curriculum as the surrounding Ann Arbor and Dexter public schools, including a FULL day program.
