Our infant program is carefully prepared as a natural extension of a child’s home. With a ratio of four infants to one teacher, your child is being cared for in the hands of our experienced teacher in a nurturing, safe, and comfortable environment. At this stage, quality and continuity of excellent care matter. Infants progress from knowing their world through immediate sensory experiences and experiment on that world through actions and mental images. Your child gradually improves his/her motor skills as he/she begins to grow. Our classroom is prepared so that everything is proportioned to the child’s size. Your child has access to child-sized stands and steps for pulling himself up; a quiet nursery with individual cribs for napping; an eating area equipped with child sized tables, and a play area where infants are stimulated through art, language, music, and sensory exploration. Our program enables your child to freely explore and enjoy a Montessori environment where he/she grows, learns, and bonds with other infants.

Toddlers are curious and their curiosity should be fed. This is how they learn. Our program allows them to discover the world in which they live. The Montessori toddler environment is set up much like a home, with distinct areas for preparing food, eating, changing clothes, toileting, group activities, individual work, and quiet moments. By allowing the child to develop relationships with adults and children outside his/her own family, however, the Toddler Classroom offers opportunities beyond those typically available in a family home. Developing these relationships builds social skills and helps the child start to understand his/her relationship to the community and the environment.

Early childhood is a period of “conscious development” in which the previously created functions are refined. The child now consciously chooses experiences for the pure pleasure of doing. The more the child does, the greater his/her cognitive development. The child begins to name, sort, and categorize the environment. Through the impressions absorbed he begins to develop memory and is moving towards more complex mental abilities.
