A child’s brain has its most dramatic growth period from birth until the age of 5. Kids learn from observation and instruction which sharpens their cognitive abilities. A kid’s brain really is like a sponge, soaking up as much info as possible. The goal of our toddler program is to help young children maximize their potential by guiding them in development of communication, independence, physical movement, problem-solving ability and social interactions. We also focus on preparing students to transition into the early childhood classroom (3-6 years old). One of the skills we focus on is potty training. Potty training is an important skill that students learn which helps the later transition into the upper classroom. Students learn to be more independent, self confident and socialize. The activities in this classroom include Montessori materials, sensory bins and STEAM materials. The toddler program introduces these concepts in a fun way instilling the desire to learn in the child. As kids enjoy working with materials and projects in the classroom they simultaneously build confidence within themselves.

Summer Camp at Global Minds Montessori offers non-stop opportunities for creativity, discovery, active play, social interaction and fun! Each weeklong program offers a different opportunity to learn and explore something unique. Embedded within each theme per week, children ages 11 months to 6 years old join a thoughtfully prepared classroom with materials and hands-on activities to engage all of their senses while promoting creativity, movement, cooperation and collaboration. STEAM-inspired activities enrich your child’s experience through Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math. Abundant sunshine and fresh air are a must as children enjoy daily play outside. Montessori elements of independence, choice and responsibility carry over into the Summer Camp environment as we continue to inspire children to be their best possible selves.

In our Early Childhood program (3-6 year olds) children begin to transition from self-awareness to awareness and care for others. This includes integrating grace and courtesy, the Peace Curriculum, and service learning into a rigorous academic Montessori curriculum. Along with strengthening your child’s social and emotional development, your child will use research based academic materials to develop strong foundations in sensorial, practical life, language, math, culture, and STEAM integrated concepts. Our preschool program follows a set curriculum that is viewable to parents online and on the family bulletin board. We also communicate the curriculum and each child’s progress throughout the year via parent conferences and progress reporting system. At the preschool level, each child is looked upon differently and is individually presented with her own language and math “work,” based on her developmental needs. For this reason, some of the three- and four-year-old students are fluently reading and performing complex mathematical equations, while others are still working on building the repetition and skills needed for decoding and more advanced mathematics. Each child is given the opportunity to progress at his individual rate, and they are each able to take time away from their academics when needed. Taking “time away” is spent in creating beautiful artwork, maps, puzzles and other outlets for creativity. The classrooms buzz with wonderful, creative energy and learning.
