At Star America Manhattan, we interact and guide your infant with age appropriate play time to provide a healthy early learning environment for movement, exploration and communication. The songs we sing and the stories we read encourage language acquisition. Our infants’s play time experiences help boost cognitive and motor skills. Teachers provide an infant daily log to develop your child’s daily schedule including nap time, play time and feedings. We help your child transition from infant to toddler as your growing child learns new sounds, signs language, vocabulary, and fine/gross motor skills.

Star America Manhattan’s toddler program provides a safe, fun and active learning environment. Your toddler will enjoy a daily balance of learning and social activities, music and movement and plenty of outdoor climbing, running and jumping. We encourage your child to explore and learn through play with blocks and puzzles, creative art and imaginary play. We enjoy books each day through circle time and incorporating stories and songs that encourage language skills. Your toddler will practice hand washing, putting on/taking off their own socks, shoes, and coats, picking up toys and sharing with friends. At our school, toddlers experience healthy peer interaction while participating in activities that strengthen gross motor skills, such as balancing, catching, bouncing, and standing on tip-toes; and fine motor skills through drawing, painting, and coloring. At Star America Manhattan, our toddlers explore through parallel play and gain confidence, learn problem solving, and self awareness all in a safe and nurturing preschool setting with adult guided participation.

Our focus is on a curriculum designed around how children learn, introducing young children to elements of world culture to which they might not otherwise be exposed. We believe in never dumbing down for children, giving them varied, exciting opportunities to explore, discover and learn. At Star America Manhattan, we listen to your child, as your child can best articulate their own needs, talents, abilities and interests. Our preschool provides our children with a wide range of carefully planned experiences that will introduce your child to Mozart, Dr. Seuss, Newton, Raphael, The Hungry Caterpillar and Picasso. We don’t test them, or expect them to remember any of it. But when they leave child care and enter their next school, and years later have teachers talking about Newton’s three laws of motion or discuss cubism, many of them will remember their first introduction from day care.
