Enrichment Classes (0 - 5 yrs)
Piano Class Piano at Metrokids Preschools is another way that we are on the cutting edge of early childhood education! Our exciting piano program features one-on-one lessons in a child-centered format. Children will develop musical literacy and performance skills, creating happy and competent musicians. When starting at a young age, students develop a true mastery of the piano. There are many benefits for students who practice piano in their early years. Many studies have shown that children who take piano lessons in early childhood have increased concentration and coordination. Playing piano develops fine motor skills and improves cognition, allowing children to think both critically and creatively. Music is the third language taught at Metrokids Preschool. It is the universal language of the world! Music Class Music is literacy! This class provides a carefully balanced music program emphasizing musical growth and encouraging creativity by teaching simple musical elements, such as rhythm, tone, and beat. A wide selection of songs, activities, and dance moves are used to introduce memory, rhyming, and sounds. Children also explore music using an assortment of musical instruments including thumb piano, keyboards, flute, ukulele, guitar, maracas, tambourines, and more. Studio Art Class Art expression is literacy! This art class is dedicated to hands-on creative experiences and artistic expression. The program exposes children to a variety of materials and mediums, allowing them to make connections to the world around them through visual references, color, shape, size, pattern, line and composition. Children have the opportunity to explore textures while creating masterpieces. Dance/Ballet Class Dance is literacy! The fusion of art, music, exercise, and movement makes our dance program special. Classes allow preschoolers to develop fine and gross motor skills while having fun. Children learn songs, stories, and creative movement while practicing body control, group participation, and cooperation. These classes will help children to appreciate a love for dancing at a young age. They will learn to use their bodies to express themselves, creating self-expression through movement. Karate/Kung Fu/Capoeira Class Mind/body/spirit connection! Metrokids Preschool is again on the forefront of self-awareness. The discipline and balance developed through the practice of martial arts develop focus, respect, and interpersonal skills. Children learn about themselves and others while respecting the body, mind, and spirit. These martial art essentials teach children the importance of becoming thoughtful and responsible members of the community. Yoga Class This class is a wonderful way for children to experience yoga as a means of self-expression, body awareness, and self-control. Children learn different poses, breathing techniques, visualization skills, and games. Yoga helps to strengthen muscles that ease breathing, helping to oxygenate the body. Children become attuned to their feelings and find better ways to express themselves. They become better at self-regulation skills, which are necessary for health and relaxation. Children learn coordination and flexibility in safe, gentle ways.
Infant Program (0 - 1 yrs)
One of the most important characteristics of our infant program is the trust we earn while caring and connecting with the families in our care. The program begins with the taking of a thorough history of your child’s needs and preferences. When parents arrive each day, they are welcomed and encouraged to discuss their child’s previous night and morning, so that we are best prepared to meet each baby’s specific needs. We will work together to establish a personalized development plan that is continually updated to meet your child’s needs. Metrokids Preschool has a superior infant program and we lead the way in early infant education. We utilize the latest research in infant language acquisition, emotional security, cognitive development, executive functioning, and positive bonding. Our trained staff is ready to share their knowledge and use it to benefit each child’s growth and development. When speaking with your child, our staff uses language modeling and parallel talk to help with language development. We provide dual language exposure and fine and gross motor activities in a theme-based environment. Our infant program also incorporates baby yoga and music. Each infant has a personal crib, providing a sense of familiarity and comfort. Infants are encouraged to reach, grasp, kick, hold, pull, crawl, and stand. We also provide many cognitive experiences for your infant. Caregivers model social language skills by connecting new words with their daily experiences. Teachers use language such as “please” and “thank you”, so that infants become familiar with polite conversation. Teachers expand on each child’s experience at school through the use of rich vocabulary, responsive connections, and consistent care. Our infant classrooms provide personal, warm, and loving care in a colorful, stimulating, clean, and healthy environment. The low child-to-teacher ratio in these classes allows for plenty of one-on-one interaction. . We have an open door policy at this age and welcome breastfeeding moms and non-breastfeeding parents alike.
Summer Program (0 - 5 yrs)
Having fun and learning is what Metrokids Preschool summer program is all about. Our new summer program “Around the World in 50 days” is a great enrichment to our standard program. Students will be exposed to the rich traditions of South America, Africa, North America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Our summer program will enable children to learn about the distinct and various languages, foods, dress, and traditions of specific regions. Children will be engaged in meaningful hands-on learning, where they will have the opportunity to participate and share in all of the different traditions that make each region unique. Additionally, Metrokids Preschool utilizes many local resources to expose children to the arts. Music concerts, children’s theater productions, visits to the park for water play, exciting field trips, in-house entertainment, and exposure to lots of sunshine are just some of the fun things we will do during the summer. Our new summer program was designed for children on the go. The theme-based program was created to inspire your child to explore, create, interact, and stay active during the summer months. We have chosen developmentally and age-appropriate activities, lessons, and games for both learning and fun to enhance what your child has already learned. Your child’s summer vacation at our program becomes a strong foundation for future success.

Toddler Program (3 - 5 yrs)
Toddlerhood is a very special time of development when early experiences can have lifelong and lasting effects. At Metrokids Preschool we make careful and sensitive decisions regarding each child. We carefully implement curriculum that incorporates age-appropriate strategy-based lessons. This helps your child in developing emotional intelligence, social intelligence, sensory discrimination skills, concept development, critical thinking skills, and language and physical skills. Our developmentally appropriate practices provide safe and healthy ways to teach young children. We provide many opportunities for toddlers to learn and play in a safe and age-appropriate environment. We believe that children learn best in a supportive environment that allows freedom of movement and active exploration. We focus on each child’s growth, self-esteem, and natural curiosity. At this age, children want to make simple choices. Therefore, they are afforded opportunities for teacher-facilitated decision-making.. We use music, art, manipulatives, games, puzzles, and books to provide interesting and stimulating ways to engage our children. Toddlers begin to understand the world of causality. This is often accomplished by experimentation through touching and moving objects. This is the beginning of STEM thinking and abstract learning. Our curriculum is based on the belief that children learn best through active and engaging sensory experiences. Walking, climbing, and exploring are some of the activities toddlers enjoy each day. We encourage children to develop unique skills, interests, and strengths. We also encourage children to explore and discover while supporting their growing independence. This educational approach allows direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, and events. We provide endless opportunities for toddlers to learn and play in an inviting, age-appropriate, and safe environment. At Metrokids Preschool, our staff utilizes active listening, language modeling, and responsive caregiving to ensure that each child is developing appropriate language skills. By continually listening, talking, and describing actions to our toddlers, we help enhance vocabulary, expand expressive language skills, improve communication, and develop self-esteem.
