Students are taught to read and write Chinese and to appreciate the Chinese culture. The program also provides homework assistance, and for students in need of extra academic support, tutoring in specific subjects. Additional instructional time, recreation activities, and a freshly prepared hot meal round out their afterschool time.

The summer program operates in July and August for children age 5 to 13 years old. Summer participants engage in a full day of fun activities and learning from 8:30am to 5:30pm. Certified teachers continue academic lessons through the summer to ensure children stay sharp for the next school year. Participants enjoy a weekly trip within the 5 boroughs of New York City. In addition to lunch provided by the NYC Summer Food Program, the Mei Wah School provides a freshly prepare hot meal daily, just as we do during the school year.
