Terrific Twos (2 yrs)
Children grow and develop so rapidly at this stage of development that we try and keep children within a 6 month age difference in one class so that we may work on specific verbal, social, cognitive, physical skills and self-help skills. Our goal for all of our 2's is that they will come to a nurturing and safe place that they call "school". They will learn how to separate from Mom & Dad and understand that they will come back to get them. They will learn to play with other children, to take turns, to sing songs and act out stories. Our morning consists of indoor open-ended art activities, story time, play time and time on our 2 outdoor playgrounds. Children are offered a multi-sensory approach to learning: they will feel things, smell things, taste things, hear things and see things to learn about the world they live in.

Rising Stars (3 yrs)
Our Rising Stars program is designed to encourage exploration and create a feeling of safety and security for our young 3-year-olds (Children can be 2 years 9 months old by September 1 to be in our Rising Stars program).. Children work with open-ended materials such as blocks, sand, paint, crayons, paper, playdough utilizing a multi-sensory approach to learning about the world they live in. They learn collaboration through expressing their thoughts and ideas at circle time, and through socializing with peers. Social skills are an important aspect of the development of three-year-old children. We focus on such skills as sharing, communication, socialization, following directions, hand-eye coordination, large and fine motor development.

Junior Pre-K (3 yrs)
While utilizing The Project Approach as well as certain components of Creative Curriculum, our Junior Pre-K curriculum is designed to develop verbal skills, reading, writing, mathematics, phonics, environment and science. Children will use a multitude of multi-sensory experiences throughout the day. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment within which the developmental need of each child will be met. Readiness skills will be strengthened prior to the Kindergarten experience. We recognize the uniqueness of each child. The pace may differ from student to student, but all children will be guided to develop their thinking process to their fullest abilities. Our purpose is to enable the children to continue their enthusiasm to become self-motivated students, eager and ready to learn. The curriculum for the Junior Pre-Kindergarten class will emphasize pre-reading, pre-math, and early handwriting skills. Children must be potty trained for the Junior Pre-K program.

Kindergarten Bridge (5 yrs)
Our "Kindergarten Bridge" program is designed for children who will be 5 years old before December 31st and who will be given the gift of time to continue to learn through play for an additional year at Weekday. This program has been developed to address the need to engage children with summer or fall birthdays who are five years old, but who need a bit more time before entering a rigorous learning environment. This will allow children to become more confident as they move to the next level of academic achievement. The curriculum will focus on all of the school readiness skills that will be necessary to provide a solid foundation for the many years of school to come. Our K-Bridge is fully registered with the New York State Department of Education.
