Current research confirms the importance of learning in the first three years of life. How and what children learn affects them throughout their lifetime. A toddler is a child in transition between babyhood and the preschool years, with unique needs and abilities that can be well met by the Montessori toddler environment and the specially-trained adults within it.

The day care program offers care before and after our preschool and kindergarten classes. We provide a nurturing environment that encourages social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Day care substitutes for a child’s daytime home life, offering a wide range of activities geared to the needs and interests of small children. Montessori sensorial and practical life materials are supplemented by themed activities and projects, cognitive and construction toys, games, art, books and CDs, blocks, housekeeping and dress-up, outdoor play, and much more. Children bring lunch and snacks are offered throughout their day. Snacks are selected with child appeal and nutrition in mind and represent at least two major food groups. There is also the opportunity to nap or rest as needed. We work at creating a setting that is enjoyable, beneficial and safe for all children. The day care room is located near the child’s classroom, making the transition to day care easy for the children.

At PCMS, the love of learning doesn’t end in June. Our summer program provides consistent, enriched environments to further develop students’ innate desire to learn. Children are surrounded by their friends, where it’s safe, fun and creative! Our summer program is a nine- or ten-week program with weekly themes. Children must enroll for a minimum of three weeks. Themes may include cooking, art, music, theater, bugs, dinosaurs, etc. Our highly-qualified experienced teachers facilitate the program and bring a wealth of knowledge, energy and enthusiasm to share with the campers. The Plymouth-Canton Montessori School preschool/kindergarten program provides an educational, creative, social, and most importantly, a pleasurable experience for children aged 2 years 9 months through 6 years. They will be able to associate with other children and responsive adults in an environment specifically tailored to the needs of small children.
