Our Nido community focuses on two basic needs of the infant— a safe bonded relationship between adult and child and the development of the child’s growing sense of self and independence. The word ‘Nido’ is derived from the Italian word meaning ‘nest’ and it conveys the spirit of the infant environment. Our classrooms are comforting, warm and inviting with care being taken to provide nurturing, calm stimulation to enhance the development of the young child. The simplicity and aesthetic order of our Nido environment support safe discovery of the world as the child sensorially explores the environment. These spaces are then thoroughly enhanced by the tender care and developmental support offered by our staff. Trust is a basic need that must be nurtured in the young child. Our trained staff care for and respectfully respond to the needs of each infant and in so doing encourage the development of that trust and convey a message of unconditional love and acceptance. As the child develops, this trust will serve to foster risk-taking and learning.

Our Toddler community offers space for the young child to naturally move from a physical and emotional stage of development to the more cognitive phase of learning. Through movement and exploration, the child is exposed to a broader world where parallel play becomes interactive play and where they learn to communicate needs and desires. Our teachers instill self-confidence by supporting the child’s innate curiosity while maintaining a keen balance with the developing skills required for respectful social interactions. The classrooms provide activities that teach the care of oneself and the environment, fosters gross and fine motor skills and provides structure and organization for pre-academic learning.

Our primary classroom is designed to meet the needs of the rapidly developing 3-6 year old child. Classes are composed of mixed-age groups to allow for cognitive stimulation while also meeting each child’s social needs. The goal of the primary program is to enrich and promote the further development of each child’s natural curiosity and zest for learning. The Montessori approach at the primary level is based on the needs of the individual child. They are in control and responsible for making choices throughout the day. Each class has a wide variety of specific Montessori materials for hands-on exploration and a Montessori trained staff that facilitates a child’s trust in him/herself through risk-taking, further questioning, and skill development. MAC's Integrated Kindergarten is a full day program that engages students academically, socially, and emotionally. The morning is spent in the classroom where students participate in work that serves as the pathway to the beginning stages of reasoning and abstraction. The Kindergartners work individually and in small groups as they continue to refine and consolidate their skills in reading, writing, math, science, practical life, and self-regulation within the community. In the afternoon, the students have the opportunity to "go big" by working in their cohorts and alongside the Elementary students. The Kindergartners participate in Spanish, Art, Music, and our Reading and Literacy studio classes. These classes offer diverse and intellectual experiences that incorporate elements of history, cultural awareness, storytelling, and physical self-expression into the curriculum.

The MAC Montessori curriculum provides a progressive educational foundation as well as integration with real-life experiences, and is implemented with respect to varying learning styles and natural human development. At MAC, children are able to be their unique selves. Our teachers gets to know each child on a deep level and because of this, children are given the responsibility of making their own learning choices throughout the day with the support of trained Montessori teachers.

Because MAC offers mixed-age groups and a low student-teacher ratio, older children show not only a willingness, but sheer delight in leading their peers by giving lessons and helping them practice new skills, this reinforces social development and builds character in the student’s leadership skills, patience, and empathy.

Our Elementary School offers strong progressive academics, including Mathematics, Language, Science and History. Our classrooms are filled with math and science materials that isolate specific concepts for the child and allow concrete math and science skills to be fostered through hands-on and didactic lessons that require further inquiry and investigation to solve the problem.

Reading, writing, and language skills are developed and mastered through all learning disciplines and are connected to explorations, research, and experiments. In addition, reading and writing workshops are a common theme in the classroom and range from writing children's stories to reading historical biographies in a literature group.
