Our curriculum is devised and customized for each child to succeed. In a mixed-age classroom for children ages two- to six-years-old, children choose activities within a prepared environment all through the day from a range of options. There are uninterrupted blocks of work time, from 1 ½ to 2 hours. We follow a "discovery" model, where students learn concepts from working with materials rather than by direct instruction and rely on specialized educational materials developed by Montessori and her collaborators often made from natural, aesthetic materials such as wood rather than plastic. In our thoughtfully prepared environment materials are organized by subject area, are within reach of the child, and are appropriate in size. We embrace the empowering concept of freedom within limits. Our trained Montessori teachers follow the children and are highly experienced in observing each individual child's characteristics, tendencies, innate talents, and abilities.
