Castles Preschool offers an infant program that not only meets the needs of your infants, but allows them to be on their own schedule. We provide formula, cereals, and foods for infants under one year, as well as a full menu for those that are 1-2 years old. The babies are on their own sleeping and eating schedules, and those who are 1-2 years start to be on the same eating and sleeping schedule for their later transition to our 2 year old room. We like to meet needs of parents who wish to visit their baby for breastfeeding time. We allow a private area for mothers to drop in and have their one on one time with their child on their lunch breaks, etc. All of the babies are interacted with in appropriate play for their age and development. As babies grow to sit up and crawl, more activities are planned for them. The lead teacher does finger painting activities, short story times, and song circles. A cubby is provided for your childs items, such as extra clothes, diapers, and wipes. Each day the teachers provide a daily report card stating the information relating to diaper change times, eating times, and sleeping times. This is done to allow each parent to know what went on with their child for the day, and gives a sense of experiencing their childs day.

The head teacher provides many, many activities relating to art, math, science, etc. Each child is able to develop their skills through doing each activity. Trays are set up as a way to break up the areas at the table and teach the children turn taking and sharing. The children in this room also have outside play time and free play time, which includes dress up, construction site, the castle, puzzles, manipulatives, and games. Different story times and song times relate to the theme in the classroom. The themes are broken up by the months in the year, and different letters, colors, and shapes have a focus for each theme. Examples are earth and space, animals and on the farm, seasons, etc. All children in this room are beginning to potty train as well. Once potty trained, and of three and a half years old, the children move onto the 4-5 Pre Kindergarten room.

The Pre-K room has a focus on exposing all children to general skills that will be needed for their transition into kindergarten. Children experience this classroom for either a year and a half or two years, depending on their birth date, and time of potty training completion. At the start of each year, themes are followed as well. Activities relate to the alphabet, numbers, shapes, cutting, fine motor, and gross motor skills. We have a large playground to develop some of the gross motor skills as well and provide an influence on being active. Each activity completed, is carefully incorporated to meet kindergarten standards, and to meet the needs of all the children individually. As children gain more confidence with their skills, they move on to more difficult tasks. This progression allows all children to develop at their own rate, and have success when they get to kindergarten.

Our school age program is split up into two main areas. We have our Kindergarteners, and first through sixth graders. Transportation is provided for children to and from school. We coordinate all Chico schools and have bus routes that allow children to be dropped off and picked up on time. Our Kindergarteners have homework time, outside time, and general subject activities that are fun and interesting. A lot of the activities planned for the kindergarteners support standards for kindergarten and are appropriate to what each child can do. We have both AM and PM care for children in kindergarten.
