Infants - Jungle Babies (0 - 1 yrs)
Our infant room is a place where babies feel safe and parents feel confident! We recognize that leaving your infant is stressful. At First Steps we do everything to help alleviate that stress by giving your child plenty of love and attention, and following the same schedule you have created at home. We provide personal cribs and developmentally appropriate experiences, as well as a daily schedule that is flexible to allow for your child’s individual needs. Songs and stories are provided throughout the day, as well as tummy time to strengthen those upper body muscles! Please feel free to come in anytime to feed, play, nurse, or interact with your infant! Once infants get close to their first birthday, we will begin adapting to the one year old schedule to facilitate an easier classroom transition.
Mon-Fri , 7:00am - 6:00pm
Toddlers - Little Monsters (1 - 2 yrs)
These children have turned one, are fully walking, eat table food, are able to drink from a sippie cup and are ready for a more structured schedule with diverse and stimulating activities. Age appropriate curriculum helps advance your toddler’s social, physical, emotional and intellectual growth through hands on learning activities and exploration art. Toddlers learn concepts such as eating with utensils, being part of a group, taking turns, sharing, using manners, and verbally communicating their needs. Toddlers have their own dedicated outdoor playground, allowing for a flexible indoor/outdoor schedule. Nap is one time a day from 12-2 Our Monster memo is sent home daily to keep you connected to your child’s day.
Two's - Fantastic Frogs (2 - 3 yrs)
Children in this classroom are ready to leave their sippy cups at home, and drink from regular cups, with occasional spills. These children are also ready for more independence, although they still get frustrated and need both encouragement and assistance. Children are offered a variety of materials so they practice their newly developing self help skills. A variety of paints and art materials are readily available so children can be creative and explore at their own pace; as well as Developmentally Appropriate Learning Centers that foster language and communication, cognitive skills, fine and gross motor skills, critical thinking, and social emotional development. Froggy Fliers, our daily report, are available for parents at pick up time, as well as lots of refrigerator art!
Preschool - Busy Bees (3 - 4 yrs)
This class is for children who have turned three and are fully potty trained. Three-year-olds love to explore new ways to use materials – sometimes inappropriate ways, but nevertheless their minds are always working overtime. The challenge is to help channel this natural creativity and never ending energy into something productive. Our staff is up to that task! Our program provides just the right combination of free exploration and structured Learning Centers, tempered with reminders about personal space, body awareness and mutual respect. Shapes, Colors and Letters are introduced as weekly themed activities which incorporate, sequencing, counting and sorting as part of the experience. Bumble Bee Buzz (our daily report) is available at pick-up, as well as more beautiful refrigerator art!
PreKindergarten - Outstanding Owls (4 - 5 yrs)
Our pre-k program is designed to help our 4-year-olds become socially and academically ready for a smooth transition to kindergarten. Using a combination of Starfall for Pre-K, and Creative Curriculum, our program focuses on pre-reading and math skills including sorting, sequencing, patterns and relationships, while continuing to build confidence and creativity. Shapes, Colors, Letters and Letter sounds are explored in more depth as concepts are master. Children in this class learn how to work as a team to accomplish tasks, and learn that actions have logical consequences. Children who successfully complete our program learn to Love Learning, and are able to enter Kindergarten with the skills needed to have a successful year. Daily Hoot’s (our daily report) are available at pick-up.
